Either an exercise plan … PX90, Zumba, Yoga, or Spinning.

Or a diet plan … like Weight Watchers, the Special K plan, or Jenny Craig.

Or a New Year’s resolution … to stop smoking, get organized, wake up earlier, or balance your budget.

But what about God’s plan?  Is there a plan?  And what is that plan?  And how am I part of that plan?  And if I am, how come I feel like I “missed the meeting” when we discussed the plan?

I’m looking forward to this new series as we look at God’s eternal plan being worked out through Christ and his body, the Church.  When a person chooses to become a Christ follower, he or she finds new life and direction.  God planned this all along and promises the Christ follower everything that he or she needs to live out this new life.

For the next three weeks we’ll look at God’s plan as described in the book of Ephesians to know him better; God’s very own strength training program; and the  provisions God has made available to every believer.

Sojourn is made up of people who not long ago felt far from God and could never picture themselves as part of a church. So we understand where you’re at and invite you to come as you are.  Bring your doubts, wear whatever you want, and please don’t feel like you have to put on a fake smile.  At Sojourn, no perfect people are allowed.

Occupy Earth is a Christmas series, but not a Christmas series you’ve ever seen before!

We have been witnessing many revolutions lately.  In Egypt, in Libya, even in Wall Street.  And with every revolution comes a list of ideas the rebelling forces are fighting against.  And, with varying specificity, there is also a list of things they are fighting for.

This month we’ll be discussing God’s Occupy Earth movement.  God’s heavenly revolution brought to planet earth.  God’s revolt and victory against the evil that entangles us in this world – its God’s Occupy Earth movement.

That is the answer to the majority of “why” questions at Sojourn.

Why do we meet every week at Sojourn?  Because people really do matter to God!

Why do dozens of people arrive early on Sunday to – set up sound equipment, video equipment, tables, chairs, lights, candles, etc every week?  Because people really do matter to God!

Why do we encourage every person who is part of Sojourn to join a small group?  Because people really do matter to God!

Why do people give financial gifts to God through Sojourn?  Because people really do matter to God!

Why do we serve in tangible ways – like building an orphanage in Haiti or providing gifts for children in Camden?  Because people really do matter to God!

We’ll spend the next three weeks looking at the primary reason for why we do what we do.
